Sumy Residents Trained to Register and Submit Project Applications via Electronic Platform

A practical training E-Platform for Project Submission was held in Sumy on July 5. The event participants included representatives of the Sumy City Council, Coordinating Board for Implementation of Participatory Budgeting, action groups, the general public, and mass media.

Serhii Omelichkin and Vitalii Fylenko, experts with the NOVA Energia NGO, introduced the training participants to the operation of the Citizens’ Project electronic system in the process of submission, voting, and monitoring performance of the winning projects.

A master class for author’s logging into the personal account and filling in a project application was held at the event. A presentation of the voting phase via the electronic platform was also conducted. This allowed the participants to get a hands-on experience of submitting and voting for projects via the Citizens’ Project system.

The event was organized by the NOVA Energia NGO with support from the Sumy City Council. The training was conducted as part of the Municipal Finance Strengthening Initiative (MFSI-II) Roll-out Project with regard to assisting in implementation of participatory budgeting in Ukrainian cities as part of the component Strengthening the practices of citizens’ participation in the budget process at the local level in Ukraine, which  is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by the Institute for Budgetary and Socio-Economic Research (IBSER). The Citizens’ Project electronic system was developed by the SocialBoost NGO.
