Representatives of communities involved in the project “Integrated Social Services for Conflict-Affected Children and Their Families in Western and Central Ukraine” took part in a seminar on “Conflict Management and Improving Communication Skills” on July 8, and on July 15 joined a workshop on the same topic. Together with the Communications Manager of the Institute for Budgetary and Socio-Economic Studies, Yevhenia Henova, they worked out possible causes and signs of conflicts, their levels and components, and discussed examples of effective tools for conflict prevention and resolution and approaches to conflict management when working with children and youth, with a special focus on anti-crisis communications and improving interaction between local governments, families with children, youth, the public, etc.

During the workshop, the participants worked on ways to resolve conflicts in their communities using real-life examples provided by themselves during the survey and applying the knowledge gained during the workshop.

The conclusions of the workshop participants include the following:

- always prioritize the interests of the child;
- ensure participation of children, youth, families with children in decision-making;
- prevent discrimination and work to overcome it;
- working to protect against all forms of violence;
- help residents with information;
- respect all parties to the conflict;
- work as a local government in a transparent and clear manner, communicating all our actions and plans.
The project is implemented by UNICEF in partnership with IBSER and funded by the German Government through KfW.
