Participation in Roundtable on Regional Problems of Extractive Industry and Implementation of Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative
  On 29 June, IBSER experts took part in a roundtable Regional Problems of Extractive Industry and Implementation of Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, which was held in the city of Dolyna, Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast. The event was organized by the Bureau for Development, Innovations, and Technologies (BDIT) nongovernmental organization under USAID Municipal Finance Strengthening Initiative (MFSI-II) Roll-out Project as part of realization of the component of Implementation of Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative in Ukraine
   The event was intended to give an-depth presentation of EITI and discuss its significance for the region.
   The roundtable was attended by 47 representatives of government authorities, citizens, and extractive companies, including deputy chairman of the Dolyna Raion Council, Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, as well as representatives of extractive companies Ukrnafta, Ukrgazvydobuvannia, and heads of local communities.
   The specialists of BDIT NGO presented their analysis of the region's extractive industries sector, EITI Report for 2013, and outlined both the positive and negative aspects of extractive operations in the region, and social responsibility of extractive companies. An IBSER expert shared information about EITI support provided under MFSI-II Project, activities of the Multi-Stakeholder Group, legislative initiatives, and anticipated results of the project, which is implemented thanks to financial support of USAID.
   A lively discussion took place during the event, yielding a number of valuable data and suggestions, which have been included in a list of recommendations to be taken into account in the process of elaboration of a legislative draft "On Disclosure of Information in Extractive Industries" in the Verkhovna Rada.
