On December 17, specialists from partner municipalities participating in the project “Strengthening Child-Sensitive Budgeting at the Subnational Level” joined a thematic webinar dedicated to applying child- and gender-responsive approaches in the preparation of local budget proposals for 2026.
The training was conducted by Oleksandr Ivanina, Gender Budgeting Expert at the Institute for Budgetary and Socio-Economic Research (IBSER).
During the webinar, participants examined the principles of integrating child- and gender-responsive approaches into the local budgeting process, discussed the characteristics of budget documents that are oriented toward people in general and children in particular, and reviewed practical examples of applying these approaches when drafting community budget proposals.
A separate session focused on tools for implementing a gender approach in budgeting, including the use of gender-disaggregated data, gender analysis, gender impact assessment, gender-sensitive indicators, and gender-sensitive language. These tools enable communities to develop more effective and equitable budgets that reflect the needs of different population groups.
In addition, representatives of local self-government bodies received practical recommendations on applying child- and gender-responsive approaches at various stages of the budgeting process.
The project is implemented in partnership with UNICEF Ukraine.
