The Institute of Budget, which is actively working in the field of finance, in particular, aiming to increase the influence of citizens on fiscal and economic processes by disseminating information and implementing educational programs, acted as an information partner of East West Business NGO in conducting the Fourth Spring Economic Forum, which took place in Kyiv on 26-28 March, 2010.
This is the fourth such event for youth, which is held annually at the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, with support of East West Business, a nonprofit, youth NGO, aiming to facilitate sharing of knowledge and skills among participants.
The chosen topic for this year's forum was "Socially-Responsible Business of the Future: From Awareness to Growth,” with discussions joined by economics students from Ukraine, Poland, and Russia.
The organizers of this year’s forum wanted to give an opportunity to students of the leading universities from Central and Eastern Europe to meet with representatives of business and initiate sharing of ideas between them; attract attention to society's need for a socially-responsible business; and identify the ways of implementing the Sustainable Development Concept using examples of specific companies.
Proceedings of the Fourth Spring Economic Forum focused on the following topics:
• social responsibility in organization’s corporate culture;
• environmental responsibility of manufacturing organizations, “green office” concept;
• special conditions for building a social infrastructure by a company in the present situation;
• the international and national experience of cooperation between business and education;
• topical issues of business support to unprofitable sectors in the economy.
