Press Conference at Obozrevatel

On 27 July, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the Pension Fund 2010 budget, which called for a deficit of Hr 26.6bn or 13.8% of expenditures. What caused such a huge gap in the budget? What resources could be used to stop it? Is there a threat of nonpayment or delays in pension payments? What kind of reforms does the Ukrainian pension system need?
These and other questions were answered during a press conference called Pension Fund Budget: What Could Stop a Gap of 27 Billion? held at the Obozrevatel Press Center on 3 August 2010. The questions were answered by:

     - Pavlo Rozenko, First Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Policy of Ukraine in 2005-2010;
     - Vitaliy Melnychuk, Vice-President of KINTO company; and
     - Iryna Shcherbyna, Director of the Institute for Budgetary and Socio-Economic Research.
