Public Hearings on the Draft Tax Code Presented by Cabinet of Ministers Held at Verkhovna Rada Committee on Tax and Customs Policy

     Public hearings on the Draft Tax Code presented by the Cabinet of Ministers were held at the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Tax and Customs Policy on 30 September 2010.
     The Budget Institute was represented at the hearings by Artem Rudyk, director of IBSER's Department of Tax Policy and Monitoring, who is also a member of the Public Council attached to this VR Committee.
     First Deputy Minister of Finance V.Kopylov presented the Draft Tax Code at the hearings, after which the participants engaged in a lively discussion of individual provisions within this document.
     In the next phase, the Draft Tax Code will be reviewed at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Tax and Customs Policy scheduled for the first week of October. Taking into account the great number of critical comments to the draft made by the participants in the public hearings, it was proposed to set up Working Groups in individual areas in order to further elaborate the Draft Code, after which the finalized bill will be submitted for consideration by the Verkhovna Rada.
