Looking for New Methods of Ensuring Transparency in Public Procurements
MFSI experts joined in a discussion of how to assure civil society’s effective monitoring of public procurement practices in Ukraine. A brainstorming session on the topic was organized by the LINC/USAID project on 15 December 2010. It brought together about 30 representatives from the business sector, donor community, civil society activists and the media.
The meeting’s participants discussed a number of interrelated issues, such as government transparency, freedom of information, the role of the public in the monitoring of public procurements, methods of effective monitoring etc.
Based on the discussion, it was decided to work out a strategy of possible support to the sustainable development of legal relations in the process of public procurements. A presentation and discussion regarding this support is scheduled for January 2011. MFSI will be providing expert advice in preparing the said strategy as needed.
