MFSI-II and the City of Zhytomyr Improve the Environment Together
The Municipal Finance Strengthening Initiative Roll-out (MFSI-II) Project helped the heating utility of Zhytomyr city pass for the second time the Cabinet of Ministers approval procedure for obtaining a City Council guarantee for implementing investment projects.
As a result, Zhytomyrteplokomunenergo will be able to implement innovative technologies in the Zhytomyr municipal heating system.
After the completion of this project, the company will reduce its energy intensity and improve the quality of district heating service provision to residents of one municipal microdistrict.
The project will have a significant environmental impact:
- the annual heat energy savings of 977.34Gcal;
- the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions by 356 metric tons.
Also, the project will provide economic benefits, as the company will be generating its own cheap electric power at a cost of UAH 0.45 per 1kW.
