Save Energy – Save Local Budgets
On 26 September 2013, the Municipal Finance Strengthening Initiative Project (MFSI-II) Roll-out delivered another seminar on Financial Mechanisms of Improving Energy Efficiency in the Budgetary Sphere.
The event was attended by specialists from MFSI-II Project partner cities and in particular, employees of municipal finance, economy, energy and other departments.

The seminar covered:
- an updated system for monitoring and evaluating the efficiency of energy costs (based on Performance Program Budgeting);
- a mechanism for implementing a system of financial incentives for the efficient use of energy resources by budgetary institutions.
Speakers focused on recommendations for the principles and procedures of calculating budget funds savings related to energy and possible ways of accounting and using such savings.
Representatives from the municipalities of Zhytomyr, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lutsk, Myrhorod, and Chernihiv shared their own experience in implementing energy monitoring, especially in terms of IT.
The attendees will be able to use what they learned at the seminar to help their cities to:
