Seminar: A Modern Accounting Chamber: UK Experience
On 22 May 2014, the Municipal Finance Strengthening Initiative Roll-out (MFSI-II) Project took part in a seminar on the topic of Modern Accounting Chamber: The UK Experience sponsored by GIZ Ukraine.
Participants included representatives of Ukraine’s Accounting Chamber, secretariats of Verkhovna Rada committees, academics, and the international expert community.
The seminar was led by British experts David Galsworthy and Ian Rogers of the United Kingdom’s Accounting Chamber. The seminar discussions focused on the issues of the role of a modern Accounting Chamber in the budget process in the light of UK experience and according to European standards.
Based on the seminar, recommendations have been elaborated for improving Ukraine’s legislative framework, including the Law of Ukraine "On the Accounting Chamber of Ukraine". Implementing such recommendations will contribute to greater transparency in using State budget resources and ensure better public finance management.
