17 August 2014
On 17 July 2014, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine (abstract from Protocol #48) and Ministry of Finance (Order #726 of 24 June 2014), approved the scope and terms of granting a local guarantee for implementing an investment project. The Municipal Finance Strengthening Initiative Roll-out (MFSI-II) Project provided help in this task.
The overall goal of the DemoUkrainaDH Project in the city of Kamyanets'-Podilskyi is the modernization and improved reliability of service of its district heating system, reduction of energy intensity, and improved quality of heating services to citizens through the implementation of innovative solutions.
The Project is designed to upgrade the district heating system, viz., introduce 22 individual heating points, complete with implementing energy saving activities in buildings.
The Project will have significant economic (total gas savings of 641,700 m3/year), environmental (CO2 emissions cut by 2,240 metric tons per year or by 30%), and social (balancing out the heating system and restoring hot water supply) impacts.
Therefore, implementation of the Project will help reduce harmful emissions in the air thanks to reduced consumption of fossil fuels including gas, which is a priority for Ukraine in general, as well as improve the quality of service provision to citizens.
