MFSI-II Project Takes Part in a Budget Decentralization Roundtable
25 September 2014
On 24 September 2014, the MFSI-II Project took part in a meeting of an international technical assistance panel organized as part of the Responsible, Accountable, Democratic Assembly (RADA) Program supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
The event was attended by representatives of the Association of Ukrainian Cities, and other projects financed by USAID.
The attendees heard a presentation given by the Association of Ukrainian Cities on the draft amendments to the budget and tax legislation submitted to the Verkhovna Rada. The participants were familiarized with the key provisions of the legislative drafts prepared by the Government, and had an opportunity to examine the need for making such amendments. Special focus was on local budgets and issues of strengthening the financial capacity of local governments.
The issues highlighted are extremely important for the reform of the Ukrainian government in general and should be taken into consideration when implementing the reform of the Ukrainian budget system.
