Seminar on Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative: Practical Significance for Citizens of Ukraine
   On 24 July 2015, experts of the Municipal Finance Strengthening Initiative (MFSI-II) Project supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) delivered a one-day seminar on Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative: Practical Significance for Citizens of Ukraine.
   The event was attended by representatives of NGOs from the cities of Kyiv, Kharkiv, Lviv, Sumy, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernihiv, Yenakiyevo, Artemivsk, Boryslav, Poltava, officials from the government ministries and departments, as well as the business community.
   In the course of the seminar, the participants learned about the progress in implementation of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) in Ukraine, were introduced to the opportunities of EITI practical use by the civil society, and the opportunities for assuring transparency of budget expenditures, in particular, those related to extractive industries.
   Using the knowledge learned at the seminar will make it possible for well-informed citizens to take an active part in overseeing the management of natural resources and contribute to greater openness and transparency of extractive industries.
