Experts of MFSI-II Project Participate in the Process of EITI Implementation in Ukraine
07 August 2015
On 6 August 2015, experts of the MFSI-II Project took part in a scheduled meeting of the Multi-Stakeholder Group (MSG) on the issues of implementation of an international standard of ensuring transparency of revenues from natural resources called the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) in Ukraine.
In the course of the meeting, the MSG members approved the annual MSG 2014 activity report, discussed and approved the makeup of the EITI Secretariat, and approved an Independent Administrator for data gathering and preparation of the EITI 2013 report (the Ernst&Young auditors and consultants were named as the winning bidder in an open tender). Also, the opportunities were discussed for providing comprehensive assistance by MSG members to the Independent Administrator in the context of gathering information from respondents (companies, government agencies and institutions), quick resolution of current problem issues, and elaboration of the report content in order to comply with the prescribed deadlines for report submission to the International EITI Secretariat.
The above decisions present an important step towards EITI implementation in Ukraine. They will contribute to transparent operations of extractive industry enterprises and create the conditions for public participation in the management of natural resources.
