Public Activists Deliver EITI Seminar for Students
25 October 2016
There is a lack of professionals in Ukraine with a proactive civic position and adherence to the principles of transparency, accountability, and responsible attitude to ensuring compliance to the process requirements for environmental protection.
This has motivated the Poltava Branch of the Social Service of Ukraine to deliver seminars for teachers and students of the higher educational institutions, which train specialists for extractive industries.
This time, experts conducted a seminar for the students of the Poltava Oil and Gas College at the Poltava Yu. Kondratiuk National Technical University, who are completing their studies in the specialty ‘Operation of oil and gas wells.’
The students have already passed through internships with extractive companies; therefore, it was a discussion on equal footing. It was a great pleasure to see interest on the part of seminar participants and their understanding of the importance of compliance with process standards when operating wells, as well as of a transparent conduct of business.
This event was carried out under Municipal Finance Strengthening Initiative (MFSI-II) Roll-out Project with regard to providing assistance in implementation of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative in Ukraine component, which is financed by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
