Interdepartmental Working Group on Local Budget Development Holds Its Meeting

     The Budget Institute took part in the meeting of the Interdepartmental Working Group (IWG) on developing local budgets and interbudgetary relations. The meeting took place at the Ministry of Finance building on 28 April 2011.

     The Budget Institute is represented in the Working Group by Iryna Shcherbyna, Director General of IBSER. The Working Group also includes representatives of the Verkhovna Rada Budget Committee, Ministry of Finance, other ministries and agencies, the Kyiv City State Administration, representatives of local governments, non-governmental sector, and others.

     During the meeting, the Working Group approved a list of their key activity areas in the matters of the development of local budgets and interbudgetary relations, and they examined the Recommendations of the 17 March roundtable.

     Among other things, members of the Working Group discussed the issues related to:

- local budget revenues and stimulating local government to increase their revenue generation;

- finding the ways to ensure the efficient management of budget resources, including  optimizing the structure of expenditures and streamlining the network of budgetary institutions.

     The Working Group will continue to focus on more efficiently manage budget funds, with a special focus on improving the existing normative and legal framework.
